Your Internet Should Live Where You Do
Most of our daily life runs through the internet now. Streaming. Work. School. Smart thermostats. Security cameras. The grandkids’ birthday call. Even the coffee pot in some houses. So why are some folks still relying on a cell tower, satellite dish, or hotspot to keep their homes connected?
At Santel, we think your internet should live where you do. Built here, maintained here. Supported by people you see at church, ball games, or down at the co-op.
Because you deserve better than a blinking signal and a call center somewhere you can’t pronounce.
Fiber is Local wireless Isn’t.
You’ve probably seen ads from the national cellular providers promising “high-speed wireless home internet.” Sounds convenient, right? Until the weather rolls in. Or your neighbor starts streaming, then there’s the poor reception in your area in the first place, and then boom, you hit your data cap and get throttled back to dial-up speed.
Here’s what those mobile-based or satellite setups usually bring:
- Spotty signals (especially out past the city limits)
- Speed drops when the system’s busy (which is… often)
- Data caps (yes, still)
- Call centers with wait times that could outlast your lunch break
Now compare that to Santel Fiber:
- Reliable connection in any weather, rain, snow, or dust storm
- Unlimited data stream, game, facetime, repeat
- Speeds that don’t flinch when the kids are home from school
- Local tech support that actually knows where Fedora or Woonsocket is
We’ve Been Local Long Before It Was Trendy
Santel didn’t start as a brand. We started as a necessity. Back in 1952, folks around here formed a rural telephone co-op not because it was easy, but because it was the only way we were going to get the service we deserved. The big nationwide providers weren’t cutting it then, and frankly, this landscape’s never really matched their mold.
We built our own network, for our own people, back then it was phones, now it’s Internet and so much more!
Places like Artesian, Alpena, Letcher, Tripp, and Ethan the kind of towns where supper still means dinner and dinner means lunch, and the only skyscraper in existence is a grain elevator.
Me? I’ve been a Santel customer since 2014. My dad signed up in 2002. My great-grandparents? You’ll find them listed in one of those old spiral-bound Santel phone books from the ’70s, right next to the hand drawn feed store ad.
This isn’t just service, It’s a legacy.
And when you call us, it’s not a robot or a rep who’s never heard of Alpena or has to google how to say Jerauld it’s someone right here. Even after hours, your call stays in South Dakota. No runaround. No “try rebooting again.”
Because your internet should live where you do, around here, that means Santel.
